Difference between IPv4 and IPv6

 

IPv4 IPv6
1) Each host has a globally unique logical 32 bit IP address. 1) Each host has a globally unique logical 128 bit IP address.

3) IPv4 has lack of security. It was never designed to be secure. Originally it was designed for an isolated military network and then it was adapted for a public educational & research network. 3) IPv6 has a built-in strong security, both in terms of encryption and authentication.
4) IPv4 header has 20 bytes. 4) IPv6 header is double, it has 40 bytes.
