DXC Technology Recruitment for Freshers: Process, Test, and Interview

DXC Technology recruits freshers through three rounds: a 100-minute AMCAT-based online test, a technical interview, and an HR discussion.

All three are manageable with the right preparation. This guide covers each round in detail: what is tested, how long it takes, and what interviewers actually look for.

Who Is DXC Technology?

DXC Technology is an IT services firm formed in 2017 when Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) merged with Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s IT services division. It is headquartered in Tysons Corner, Virginia, and trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker DXC. In India, DXC operates across Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Noida, running managed services, cloud infrastructure, and outsourcing for large enterprise and government clients globally.

For freshers, DXC is a service-tier employer: steady work, structured onboarding, and reasonable entry-level pay. The role most freshers join is Associate Professional Software Engineer. Eligibility Criteria

DXC Technology’s eligibility requirements for fresher recruitment are as follows:

Rounds 2 and 3 often run on the same day. The online test is the primary filter; a portion of applicants do not clear it.

Online Test Pattern

Three rules apply across all sections:

• No negative marking.
• Once you answer a question, you cannot revisit it.
• Sections run in the fixed order shown; inter-sectional navigation is not allowed.

The test is webcam-proctored. Have your ID ready and ensure your webcam and microphone are working before you start.

English Section (12 questions, 15 minutes)

Covers vocabulary, sentence completion, sentence improvement, para jumbles, phrasal verbs, fill in the blanks, idioms and phrases, and grammar. The pace is roughly one question per 75 seconds. Move quickly.

Logical Reasoning (14 questions, 14 minutes)

Covers odd-man-out, coding and decoding, blood relations, direction sense, series completion, data sufficiency, data interpretation, and data arrangements. Sixty seconds per question on average. Skip-and-return is not available, so make your best call and move on.

Quantitative Ability Advanced (16 questions, 16 minutes)

DXC uses the Advanced Quant module, which is harder than the standard AMCAT Quant module. Topics include simplification, time and work, probability, profit and loss, averages, simple and compound interest, HCF and LCM, number systems, equations, surds and indices, permutation and combination, and partnerships. One minute per question.

Computer Programming (12 questions, 15 minutes)

Tests pseudocode understanding, basic data structures, programming fundamentals (data types, operators, arrays, functions, pointers), OOP basics (class and object, inheritance, operator precedence), OS basics, loops, and graphs and trees.

Automata Fix (7 questions, 20 minutes)

The Automata Fix section asks you to correct broken code. Languages available: C, C++, or Java. Question types are coding from scratch, code re-use, and debugging. Key topics are arrays, strings, recursion, functions, flow control, linked lists, graphs, and OOP fundamentals.

Writex Pro Essay (1 essay, 20 minutes)

A single essay topic with a word limit of 400 words. You are evaluated on coherence, grammar, and vocabulary. Pick a clear stance, state it in the first sentence, and use the remaining time to support it with two or three specific points. Vague introductions cost marks.

Technical Interview

The technical round lasts about 30 to 45 minutes. Interviewers focus on four areas.

Projects from Your Resume

Every project on your resume is fair game. Know the logic, the components, the data flow, and any limitations. If you built a final-year project on IoT or a mini-project on sorting algorithms, be ready to walk through it end to end.

Favourite Subjects

Interviewers ask upfront: “What are your favourite subjects?” All subsequent technical questions then follow from your answer. If you say OOP, expect inheritance, polymorphism, encapsulation, and abstraction. If you say DBMS, expect SQL queries, normalisation, and transactions. Choose subjects you are genuinely prepared for.

CS Fundamentals

Regardless of which subjects you claim, expect questions from these four areas:

• OOP: polymorphism, abstraction, encapsulation, interfaces
• Operating Systems: process vs. thread, demand paging, IPC, memory management
• Data Structures: arrays, linked lists, trees, graphs, stacks, queues
• DBMS basics: SQL queries (SELECT, GROUP BY, joins), DESC, pattern-matching with LIKE

Trending Technologies

DXC interviewers ask about technologies relevant to current industry work: AI, machine learning, cloud platforms, and cybersecurity. You don’t need deep expertise. Knowing what each is, what it’s used for in enterprise contexts, and one real-world example per topic is enough.

HR Interview

The HR round is straightforward. Common questions include:

• Tell us about yourself.
• Why do you want to work for DXC?
• What are your strengths and weaknesses?
• Where do you see yourself in five years?
• Are you comfortable with relocation and rotational shifts?
• What do you know about this organisation?
• What are your expectations for the role?

Answer the relocation and shift questions directly. DXC operates global delivery, so rotational shifts are standard for many teams. If you have constraints, discuss them honestly rather than agreeing in the interview and raising the issue later.

Documents to Carry

• Updated resume (one printed copy minimum)
• Aadhaar card (original and one photocopy)
• Three passport-size photographs
• Any government-issued photo ID (PAN card, voter ID, or passport)
• All academic certificates and transcripts (originals and photocopies)

Joining and What to Expect

For campus drives, offer letters typically arrive within four to six weeks of the HR round. Joining is in batches and may be delayed depending on client pipeline. Off-campus hires can see longer gaps. Check the offer letter for the specific joining window.
