Wipro’s fresher recruitment process runs three rounds across two distinct hiring tracks. FY26 intake guidance is 7,500–8,000, revised down from 10,000–12,000, per Wipro’s Q3 FY26 CHRO disclosures (The Hindu Business Line). This article covers the full sequence: who qualifies, how the two tracks differ, and what each interview round actually tests.

Scope note: If you are preparing for the NLTH written test specifically, the Wipro NLTH 2026: Test Pattern, Syllabus and Eligibility article covers the 60-minute format, AMCAT delivery, section-by-section syllabus, and eligibility cut-offs in detail. This article covers the bigger picture: all tracks, all rounds, CTC bands, and the interview stages that come after the online test.

Wipro hiring tracks in 2026

Wipro hires freshers through two distinct tracks in FY26. Most applicants come in through the Standard mass-hire path. A smaller, more selective cohort enters through the Centres of Excellence (CoE) program.

TrackEntry routeCTCDifferentiator
Standard / VelocityNLTH online test₹3.5–4.0 LPAOpen to all eligible branches; mass-hire path
CoE-AI trackEnrolled in one of 50 Wipro-partner university CoEsPremium above standard band (exact CTC not publicly disclosed)AI, cybersecurity, or data curriculum co-built with Wipro

CTC bands and the CoE program details are confirmed by Saurabh Govil, Wipro’s CHRO, at Q3 FY26 earnings, per The Hindu Business Line.

Both tracks use the NLTH online test as the entry filter. The CoE differentiation happens at the interview stage, not at the application level.

Eligibility criteria

The eligibility requirements are the same for both tracks. All four criteria below must be satisfied.

CriteriaRequirement
DegreeB.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech
BranchAll (CSE, IT, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, Civil, and others)
Academic percentageMinimum 60% in 10th, 12th, and degree independently
Active backlogsNone permitted; verified at joining documentation

The minimum percentage floor applies to each academic level independently, per the eligibility terms listed on careers.wipro.com. A student with 72 in 10th, 57 in 12th, and 79 in degree does not qualify, even if the average clears the bar. Wipro computes percentage, not CGPA. If your institution grades on a CGPA scale, use the official conversion method your college provides before checking against the published floor.

Apply for open drives at careers.wipro.com. Drive dates and eligibility windows are published ahead of each cycle.

Round 1 — The NLTH online test

The NLTH (National Level Talent Hunt, also called NTH or Elite NTH in different cycles) is the first elimination round. It runs 60 minutes, covers Aptitude (20 questions) and Essay Writing (one topic), and is proctored through AMCAT by SHL India. There is no negative marking. You cannot return to a previous section once you move forward.

For the full section-by-section breakdown of the test: syllabus topics per section, essay writing guidance, AMCAT proctoring setup, and what changed across recent cycles, see Wipro NLTH 2026: Test Pattern, Syllabus and Eligibility.

For practice questions from past Wipro drives, the Wipro placement papers and most-repeated NLTH questions page covers repeated patterns from previous cycles.

Round 2 — Technical interview

Clearing the NLTH moves you to a face-to-face or video-call technical interview. This is the round where Wipro separates candidates who know syntax from those who understand the concepts behind it.

What the technical round covers

The technical interview draws from five core areas:

  • Data structures and algorithms: Arrays, linked lists, stacks, queues, trees, and sorting algorithms. Expect at least one coding problem at easy-to-medium difficulty, on a whiteboard, shared screen, or verbally.
  • Object-oriented programming: Class design, inheritance, polymorphism, abstraction, encapsulation. Language choice is yours; pick one you can implement from memory, not just describe.
  • Database management: Basic SQL queries, joins, normalization, primary and foreign keys. Questions at the fresher level cover SELECT, JOIN, GROUP BY, and aggregate functions.
  • Operating systems: Process management, deadlock, memory management, scheduling basics.
  • Core subject knowledge for non-CS/IT students: ECE and EEE students are typically asked about digital electronics, signals, or embedded systems. Mechanical students about thermodynamics or manufacturing processes. Know at least two subjects from your branch at an explanation-level.

Coding problems in the technical interview

Wipro’s technical interviewers present one or two coding problems. Problems from recent cycles include:

  • Reverse a linked list
  • Check whether a string is a palindrome
  • Find the second largest element in an array
  • Binary search on a sorted array
  • Write Fibonacci using both iterative and recursive approaches

None of these are competitive programming problems. They test whether you can write clean, working code and explain your reasoning under a real interview conversation.

Preparation approach

Three steps that work for Wipro’s technical round:

  • Review DSA at the service-tier entry level. If you can implement a linked list, write merge sort, and explain a hash table, you are in the right zone. Deep algorithmic problem-solving is not what Wipro’s technical round tests.
  • Practice speaking your solution aloud. Wipro interviewers want to hear your reasoning, not just the code. Explain the problem, your approach, time complexity, and edge cases before writing code.
  • Know your final-year project in detail. Technical interviewers often pivot from DSA to “walk me through your project.” Prepare a two-minute version: what it does, what technologies it uses, what was the hardest part.

The Wipro interview questions page aggregates inputs from students who have gone through recent drives, including coding and concept question patterns from the technical round.

Round 3 — HR interview

The HR interview is Wipro’s final standard round. It is not adversarial. The goal is fit, not elimination.

What Wipro tests in the HR round

  • Background and motivation: “Tell me about yourself” and “Why Wipro?” are standard openers. Forward-looking answers outperform generic ones. Connecting Wipro’s CoE program in AI to your own interests is more specific than mentioning company size.
  • Behavioral questions: Situation-based questions about teamwork, handling setbacks, and problem-solving. Prepare two or three real examples from your academic or project work. Keep each to three beats: situation, what you did, what came of it.
  • Resume clarification: Gaps, low-percentage semesters, or cleared backlogs come up here. Prepare a factual, forward-looking answer. The no-active-backlogs rule is verified at joining; cleared backlogs need mark sheets confirming clearance.
  • Career direction: “Where do you see yourself in three years?” signals whether you are a thoughtful hire or a fallback option. Wipro invests in onboarding and wants someone likely to stay.

What not to do

Do not memorise scripted answers. HR interviewers are trained to follow up with probing questions. A rehearsed answer to “Why Wipro?” collapses when the follow-up is “And what specifically interests you about the project delivery model?” Conversational, factual answers hold up under follow-up. Scripted ones do not.

Offer letters from recent cycles have arrived two to eight weeks after the final interview, depending on the drive batch. Results are communicated through the AMCAT portal and email.

The CoE track — Wipro’s AI-first hiring path

Wipro’s FY26 intake target is 7,500–8,000, down from a prior target of 10,000–12,000 per The Hindu Business Line. Fewer seats overall, but the seats that remain are increasingly going to AI-skilled candidates.

Saurabh Govil, Wipro’s CHRO, confirmed at Q3 FY26 earnings that Wipro operates 50 university-based Centres of Excellence where it co-develops curriculum in AI, cybersecurity, and data engineering with partner institutions. Students trained through these CoEs enter a differentiated hiring track. Wipro also “pays premiums to candidates with prior client experience in AI areas” per the same The Hindu Business Line earnings coverage.

For students not enrolled in a formal CoE, the standard NLTH track stays open. What changes your odds at the technical interview is practical AI experience: a built project, documented on GitHub, that gives the interviewer something concrete to discuss.

Building one working LLM project before your Wipro drive is the most direct AI prep for the technical interview. TinkerLLM at ₹499 gives you the environment and guided exercises to produce a working retrieval-augmented generation demo over a weekend. A RAG prototype on GitHub is a different conversation than “I’ve done some AI courses” when a Wipro CoE-track interviewer asks about your experience. That is exactly the premium Wipro’s CHRO was describing.

For a longer path toward AI engineering roles at product companies beyond Wipro, the AI roadmap for Indian engineering students maps what AI engineers actually build in 2026. That is the kind of portfolio that changes what the CoE track interview looks like.
