Online Assessment: Format and Sections

The test runs 75 minutes across four sections. No section has its own internal timer, and no answer carries a penalty. That combination changes how you should approach the test: move quickly through your strongest sections to bank time for harder ones, and never leave a question blank.

Logical Reasoning

Topics: coding-decoding, blood relations, seating arrangements, series completion, input-output tables, and logical puzzles.

A representative question type:

  • Q: In a code, APPLE is written as BQQMF. How is MANGO written in the same code?
  • Logic: Each letter shifts forward by 1 in the alphabet (A to B, P to Q, P to Q, L to M, E to F)
  • Answer: NBOHP (M to N, A to B, N to O, G to H, O to P)

Verbal Ability

Topics: grammar correction, vocabulary, reading comprehension passages, sentence completion, and sentence correction. RC passages run 200 to 300 words. Reading speed matters as much as comprehension accuracy here.

Data Interpretation

Topics: tables, bar charts, line graphs, and pie charts. Each DI set typically groups 4 to 5 questions around a single data source. The bottleneck is reading the chart correctly and extracting the right values before calculating, not the calculation itself.

A representative approach:

  • Scenario: A pie chart shows a company’s annual budget of ₹12,00,000 split across five departments.
  • Q: If the Operations slice is 25% and the Sales slice is 35%, what is the combined budget for those two departments?
  • Step 1: Combined share = 25 + 35 = 60%
  • Step 2: 60% of ₹12,00,000 = ₹7,20,000
  • Answer: ₹7,20,000

The Video Assessment Round

This round distinguishes ZS from most campus recruiters. Around 8 short video clips present business scenarios, each followed by 3 questions. The session runs approximately 40 minutes. There are no programming or quantitative questions here.

What the round evaluates:

  • Communication clarity: Can you articulate your reasoning in plain sentences under a time constraint?
  • Decision-making: Given an ambiguous situation, do you reason through options or choose reactively?
  • Structured expression: Are your answers specific and structured, or vague and hedging?

On content: practice answering business scenarios in three structured sentences. Review two or three general business scenarios before the round: a client with an unrealistic brief, a team disagreement over priorities, a deadline conflict.

Technical and HR Interviews

Technical Interview

The technical interview is conversational, not a terminal-based coding challenge. For analytics and technology roles at ZS:

  • CS/IT candidates: data structures (arrays, trees, graphs, hash tables), algorithm design (sorting, searching, recursion), SQL queries and joins, basic probability and statistics.

HR Interview
