Infosys uses three entry channels for freshers: on-campus placement drives, off-campus recruitment drives, and employee referrals. Each channel leads to the same aptitude test and interview sequence, but eligibility, timing, and track access differ.

How the Three Channels Compare

ChannelWho can applyTracks availableTypical window
On-campusFinal-year students at Infosys partner collegesSE (₹3.6 LPA), SP (₹6.5 LPA)Aug–Dec of final year
Off-campusAny B.E./B.Tech/MCA/M.Sc holder meeting the CGPA cutoffSE, SPYear-round via careers portal
Employee referralAny eligible candidate referred by a current Infosys employeeSE, SPRolling; tied to internal vacancy

The selection process after application is identical across all three channels: an online aptitude test, a technical interview, and an HR interview. What differs is the route that gets you to the application slot.

On-Campus Recruitment

On-campus recruitment is how most Infosys freshers join each year. Infosys visits partner colleges during the placement season, typically August through December of the final year, and conducts the full hiring process on-site.

Eligibility for On-Campus

Infosys’s standard on-campus criteria cover the following:

  • Degree: B.E., B.Tech, M.E., M.Tech, MCA, or M.Sc (any discipline; CSE, IT, ECE, and EEE streams have higher shortlist rates in most cohorts)
  • Minimum CGPA: 6.0 for the SE track; 7.5 or above for PP consideration
  • No active backlogs at the time of the campus drive
  • Eligible for placements per your college’s norms (placement cells communicate the Infosys cutoffs before registration opens)

The On-Campus Process

The on-campus sequence runs four stages:

  • Stage 1 — Registration and shortlisting: your placement cell submits eligible students’ profiles; Infosys shortlists from that pool before the test day.
  • Stage 2 — Online aptitude test: covers three sections (quantitative ability, logical reasoning, and verbal ability) in a single timed session. The test is the same format used in off-campus rounds.
  • Stage 3 — Technical interview: 30 to 45 minutes. SE track questions cover core CS or ECE subjects and programming fundamentals. SP track interviews add DSA-focused coding problems.
  • Stage 4 — HR interview: communication, situational questions, and relocation readiness.

For the SP track (₹6.5 LPA), the online aptitude test includes a more demanding coding section. InfyTQ certification holders receive preferred shortlisting for SP rounds.

Practice sets for the aptitude test’s quantitative and pattern sections are in the number series and aptitude questions guide. Practice sets for the logical reasoning section (syllogisms, blood relations, coding-decoding, and data sufficiency) are in the Infosys logical reasoning guide.

Off-Campus Drives

Off-campus drives are Infosys’s mechanism for hiring from the open market: students at non-partner colleges, recent graduates who missed their campus window, or candidates from later pass-out batches.

How Off-Campus Drives Work

Infosys announces off-campus openings on its careers portal and through the InfyTQ platform. The application sequence:

  • Step 1: Create a profile on the Infosys careers portal and apply to the freshers’ opening listed for your graduation year.
  • Step 2: If shortlisted, you receive an invite for the online aptitude test. The format is identical to the on-campus version.
  • Step 3: Technical and HR interview rounds follow the same structure as on-campus.

Off-Campus Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for off-campus broadly match on-campus:

  • Degree: B.E., B.Tech, MCA, or M.Sc in any discipline
  • CGPA: 6.0 or above (SE track); 7.5 or above for PP consideration
  • No active backlogs; typically graduated within the past one to two years for most fresher drives

One practical difference: off-campus drives often specify an exact pass-out year range. An announcement may state “2024 or 2025 pass-out only.” Read the eligibility criteria in the drive notice before applying, since submitting outside the stated year range results in automatic rejection at the profile-screening stage.

InfyTQ certification is not mandatory for off-campus applications, but it has become a meaningful shortlisting signal for the SP track. Completing the certification before applying gives your profile a consistent advantage over unregistered candidates.

Employee Referral

The Infosys employee referral programme lets current Infosys staff submit a candidate’s profile through an internal portal. For freshers, this channel is less commonly used than for experienced-hire positions, but it is a legitimate route.

How a Referral Works for a Fresher

A referral does not replace any evaluation step. The candidate still takes the same online aptitude test and goes through the same technical and HR interviews. What the referral does is flag your profile in the internal applicant tracking system, which can speed up the initial shortlisting step. Some drives that are otherwise closed to external applicants accept referred candidates.

To use the referral channel effectively:

  • Confirm that the Infosys employee who will refer you is in good standing and has available referral credits (most companies cap the number of active referrals per employee per quarter).
  • Verify that your CGPA, degree, and pass-out year match the open position’s eligibility criteria before asking for a referral. A mismatched profile wastes the referral and does not improve shortlisting odds.
  • The referred candidate applies through the same careers portal with the referral code; the two profiles are linked automatically.

The referral channel does not improve your access to the PP track beyond what on-campus or off-campus routes offer. PP track access depends on HackWithInfy ranking and InfyTQ certification regardless of the application channel.

SE, SP, and PP Tracks Across Channels

All three channels can lead to the SE or SP track. The PP track is the exception.

TrackStarting CTCHow to accessKey requirement
System Engineer (SE)₹3.6 LPAOn-campus, off-campus, referralStandard aptitude pass + technical interview
Specialist Programmer (SP)₹6.5 LPAOn-campus, off-campus, referralStronger coding section; InfyTQ certification preferred
Power Programmer (PP)₹9.5 LPAHackWithInfy + on-campus (select colleges)Top HackWithInfy ranking; 7.5 CGPA or above; InfyTQ required

The PP track is almost exclusively accessible through HackWithInfy, Infosys’s annual online coding contest. Off-campus PP offers exist but are infrequent. If you are targeting PP, competing in HackWithInfy is the direct path.

For InfyTQ, the InfyTQ certification guide covers the registration process, exam pattern, and how InfyTQ status links to SE vs SP shortlisting in both on-campus and off-campus drives.

Infosys Hiring in 2026

Infosys onboarded 20,000 freshers in FY26 and has stated plans for a similar number in FY27, per CEO Salil Parekh’s Q4 FY26 earnings commentary. At that hiring scale, both on-campus and off-campus channels run simultaneously. Infosys does not concentrate intake through one route.

Parekh also noted in the same commentary that Infosys now offers different starting compensation for candidates with AI-attuned skills and is building a pool of “forward-deployed engineers” to work directly with clients on AI solution delivery. That context explains why InfyTQ has gained weight in shortlisting: the certification signals structured technical preparation beyond the SE baseline.

The practical implication for a fresher applying through any of the three channels is this: clearing the aptitude test is the gate, and it is the same gate regardless of channel. What puts a candidate on the SP or forward-deployed track is what they have built after clearing that baseline.

Building the technical layer that Infosys now differentiates on is where TinkerLLM fits. At ₹299, it covers LLM API fundamentals, prompt engineering, and RAG basics in a self-paced format. Those are the entry-level AI skills that shift a profile toward the AI-attuned bucket Parekh described.

Frequently asked questions

How do I apply for an Infosys off-campus drive?

Register on the Infosys careers portal at infosys.com/careers/ and apply to the freshers' opening listed there. Off-campus drives are also announced via InfyTQ. An InfyTQ certification improves shortlisting chances, particularly for the SP track.

What CGPA is required for Infosys off-campus placement?

The standard eligibility is 6.0 CGPA or above for the SE track, with no active backlogs. The PP track requires 7.5 CGPA or above. Infosys may adjust these cutoffs by cohort, so always check the specific drive notification.

Is the aptitude test different for off-campus vs on-campus?

No. The Infosys online aptitude test — covering quantitative ability, logical reasoning, and verbal ability — is the same format for both channels. The channel determines who gets an application slot; the test content does not change.

Can freshers get placed through the Infosys employee referral programme?

Yes, though fresher referrals are less common than experienced-hire referrals. A current Infosys employee can refer a fresher through the internal portal; the candidate then takes the standard aptitude test and goes through the technical and HR interviews. The referral speeds up shortlisting but does not skip any evaluation step.

Does InfyTQ certification help in Infosys off-campus applications?

Yes. InfyTQ certification holders are preferred for shortlisting in the SP track (₹6.5 LPA). For the PP track (₹9.5 LPA), top HackWithInfy performance combined with InfyTQ certification and 7.5 CGPA or above is required.

What is HackWithInfy and how does it relate to these channels?

HackWithInfy is Infosys's annual online coding contest. Top performers receive direct PP track offers (₹9.5 LPA) without waiting for on-campus or off-campus drives. It functions as a fourth entry channel for students who compete well in coding contests.
