The practical difference: off-campus drives always specify a pass-out year range in the drive notice, such as “2024 and 2025 pass-out only.” Submitting a profile outside the stated year range results in automatic rejection before any human reviews it. CGPA calculation note: Infosys uses the aggregate across 10th, 12th, and undergraduate, not just the UG CGPA alone. A strong UG CGPA does not offset a weak 10th or 12th result in the profile screening system.

• No negative marking. A blank and a wrong answer both score zero. The optimal play is to attempt every question.

The test runs online in a proctored, browser-based environment. Infosys sends the test link by email after the screening stage. A stable internet connection and a functioning webcam are mandatory requirements for the test environment.

Topic-by-Topic Prep Plan

Off-campus applicants typically prepare without the mock-test schedule and group practice that placement cells run during the campus season. The following topic breakdown covers what to study per section, in priority order.

Mathematical Ability

Eight topic types cover the 10-question section. The first three appear most frequently:

• Percentages and profit/loss
• Time, speed, and distance
• Averages, simple interest, and compound interest
• Ratios, proportions, and mixtures
• Number series and sequences
• Pipes and cisterns

Suggested approach: clear the top three topic types first using Infosys previous-year aptitude sets. Build the remaining topics once the core three are consistent under timed conditions. The 35-minute window is more generous than most aptitude sections, but students who have not practised under time constraints tend to over-spend on the harder ratio and mixture questions.

Logical Reasoning

Five category types appear in the logical reasoning section: syllogisms, blood relations, coding-decoding, statement-conclusion, and data sufficiency. Number series also appears in some test versions under this section rather than under mathematical ability.

Verbal Ability

Reading comprehension passages account for roughly half the verbal section’s 20 questions. Sentence completion, error spotting, and vocabulary in context cover the rest.

RC strategy: read the questions before the passage. Most Infosys RC questions are direct-reference, meaning the answer appears explicitly in the passage rather than requiring external inference. With a 20-minute window for 20 questions, the questions-first approach saves 30 to 45 seconds per passage.

Pseudocode Ability

Pseudocode questions test logic tracing, not syntax. You read a block of code and predict the output or the value of a variable after the block completes. No prior programming experience is required to score well here.

Practice method: write variable values line by line on paper for each iteration rather than tracing mentally. Three to five tracing exercises per day over two weeks builds the speed the 30-minute section requires. ECE, EEE, and Mechanical students consistently score in this section once they build the tracing habit, so branch background is not a meaningful disadvantage.

Puzzle Solving

Puzzle questions cover seating arrangements, sequential ordering, and conditional grouping. Most Infosys puzzle sets have 4 to 5 sub-parts per puzzle. The first sub-part of each puzzle is typically the easiest, so attempt it before spending time on the full set. If a puzzle is taking more than two minutes on the first sub-part, move on rather than losing time on the remaining sub-parts of the same set.

InfyTQ Certification for Off-Campus Candidates

InfyTQ is Infosys’s own learning and certification platform. It covers Java, Python, database fundamentals, and agile methodology. The certification is not mandatory for SE track applications but has become a consistent shortlisting signal for the SP track.

Applying for an Off-Campus Drive

The application workflow for off-campus candidates:

• Step 1: Create a profile on Infosys Careers. Apply to the freshers’ opening listed for your graduation year under the off-campus or walk-in section.
• Step 2: Watch for off-campus drive announcements on the InfyTQ platform and the Infosys careers portal. LinkedIn and Naukri carry announcements too, but the official portal is the authoritative source for eligibility details and application deadlines.
• Step 3: Once shortlisted, you receive an email with a test link, a time slot, and a system check instruction. Run the system check 48 hours before the test date, not the night before.
• Step 4: Complete the online aptitude test. SE and SP results are typically communicated within one to three weeks, though timelines vary by cohort size.
• Step 5: Technical and HR interviews follow, conducted virtually. Interview scheduling comes after the aptitude test result.
